Summary: “US Tells Chinese Firm To Sell Gay Social App”, in Wall Street Journal, March 28, 2019. pp. A1, A6.
National security officials have ordered a Chinese company to sell its stake in the gay-dating app Grindr, citing the risk that the personal dat it collects could be misused or weaponized in blackmail. The firm, Beijing Kunlun Tech Co Ltd. acquired the majority stake in 2016. Grindr is the world’s leading app for gay, bi, trans, trans and queer people, with millions of users worldwide every day; it includes massaging and video upload facilities.

I cannot imagine what the Chinese intelligence people make of this monstrous stream of interactions. But protecting Grndr users is a real gift to the Democratic Party in an election year.
